The Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing

The 2006 Shingo Research Prizes included the two books Lean Solutions, by James P. Womack and Daniel T. Jones, and The Gold Mine,"by Freddy Balle and Michael Balle. Both books, published by the Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI), received the prizes during the 18th annual Shingo Prize Conference. The Shingo Research Prize recognizes research and writing on new knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing. The prize's philosophy is that world-class business performance may be achieved through focused improvements in core manufacturing and business processes.
