Why Is Shade Grown Habitat So
Important to Birds?
Each winter billions of birds make the journey
from the temperate climates of North America where they breed, to the more
tropical climate of the South in search of food. Warblers, tanagers, orioles,
thrushes, as well as indigenous tropical birds make the shade coffee farms their
homes. Without a rich, forested environment, birds are forced to seek
alternative habitats which in turn lowers their overall survival rates.
